You know when you do the work.

You’ve put in the hard yards, you’re in the flow, the magic is happening and opportunities feel

boundless. According to Esther Hicks you’re tuned in, tapped in, turned on. That sense of inner confidence is quietly shining down, and you feel the synchronicities sweetly in the air. ‘You’ are the badass in this story. And then.

The energy vamps come knocking!

Those are the naysayers, the dream crushers, the ones who want to leech off your power. The ones who ask for this one little thing, more, more. So many of us have been conditioned to play small, to seek approval and contort ourselves to fit someone else’s mould. But a badass knows her worth and to tread the path back to true SELF she must learn to say no. She sacrifices and perseveres, and she knows her worth. Just because she has the capacity to do all the things that doesn’t mean she has to.

Whatever self-practices you are drawn to, grounding meditation, exercise, positive self-talk, journaling, devotional chanting, tuning in, prayer. You will need to rely on these to off-set some of that negative energy that will be drawn to your light. You will recognise the vamp energy because it will leave you feeling, confused, anxious, depleted and broken in spirit.

One of my ex-students was on the receiving end of this energy not from one person but an entire institution. Let’s call her Anya, her usually bright confident demeanour had been stripped, she felt like a shell of the person, a victim of corporation bullying. Anya told me over coffee that she felt blind sighted. She felt anxious and disappointed that people whom she once trusted had turned on her. I sat there listening, feeling her anguish and pain. I felt anger for this young woman, not yet 18 who is incredibly talented and she’s going places. She will be fine; thankfully she has an amazing family and the resilience she has built from this experience is golden. I took a sip of coffee and grinned, “shall we throw some plates at a wall and turn this feeling into art?” She took my hand across the table and squeezed it with defiance,

The glint returned to her eyes.

“Yes! Are you free Friday?”
